Potential laptop data breach at Eircom
Eircom is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons following a spate of thefts over the last two months. The data on the stolen laptops included that of 6,845 eMobile and Meteor customers in addition to 686 Eircom employees.
The Data Protection Commissioner, Billy Hawkes later advised this was one of the most serious breaches on the scale. He went on to say that firms normally report any data breach within 24 to 48 hours and that the delay from Eircom was not acceptable.
The issues was compounded by the fact that none of the stolen laptops had their data encrypted.

AMI and DiskShred at IP Expo 2011, Earl’s Court, London
AMI’s secure on-site shredding service ‘DiskShred’ was exhibited at IP Expo for the first time in October 2011. The event was well attended over the two days with many attendees keen to understand more about our services. We also launched our secure storage bins at the event for customers who requiring scheduled collections of redudant media.
